ACHA Hockey wins its final game in the ACHA Tournament against No. 12 Aurora

MARDEN, N.D. – The CUW ACHA Men's Hockey team picked up its first-ever victory in the ACHA Division II Tournament on Saturday morning. The Falcons defeated conference-foe No. 12 Aurora in overtime with a 5-4 victory. The Falcons finish the year with a 12-14 record.

"I am very proud of this team," said head coach Brandon Richards. "We did a lot of amazing things this year and this was a great way to cap off this season. I would like to thank our athletic training staff and our administration for their hard work that put us in this position and allowed us to compete."

The Falcons wasted no time finding the back of the net on Saturday. Sophomore Trenton Sherman (Farmington, Minn.) lit the lamp two minutes into the game off a pass from senior Wyatt Wilderman (Bear Dance, Mont.).

Aurora tied the game four minutes later.

Sophomore Scott Gregor (Ashland, Wis.) finished the first-period scoring off an assist to senior Andrew Doepp (New Lenox, Ill.).

Neither team scored a goal in the second period.

The Falcons scored on the power play with a blast from senior Cody Faber (Wilmot, Wis.) and assists to John Swiatek (Rochester, N.Y.) and Wyatt Wilderman.

The Spartans took the lead with three-straight goals.

The Blue and White rallied back for one last time this season and tied the game off the stick of sophomore Connor Doyle (Naples, Fla.) who was fed by Trenton Sherman and Andrew Doepp.

Cody Faber capped his collegiate career with the overtime-winning goal. John Swiatek added the assist.

Senior Dakota Delbridge (Tracy, Calif.) finished his collegiate career with 30 saves in the victory.
