MARDEN, N.D. – The CUW ACHA men's hockey team was eliminated from advancing in the ACHA Division II National Tournament on Friday with a 7-2 loss to No. 5 Florida Gulf Coast.
The Eagles opened the game with three goals in the first period and struck first in the second period with a goal.
Sophomore Connor Doyle (Naples, Fla.) scored the first goal for CUW in the ACHA Tournament with a second-period goal off assists from sophomore Trenton Sherman (Farmington, Minn.) and freshman Nick Roberts (Milwaukee, Wis.).
Two minutes later, Trenton Sherman found the back of the net off a pass from sophomore Easton Williams (Racine, Wis.).
Sophomore Mack Willy (Tacoma, Wash.) collected 38 saves in the loss.
The Falcons were able to throw 22 shots on net on Friday night.
CUW closes the 2021 season on Saturday against No. 12 Aurora at the ACHA National Championship.
