MEQUON, Wis. – It just was not meant to be on Saturday night for the ACHA hockey team. The sixth-ranked Sabres topped the Falcons in overtime, 6-5, to complete the season sweep over CUW.
Senior Cody Faber lit the lamp 59 seconds into the game off assists from sophomore Connor Doyle and sophomore Trenton Sherman.
The Sabres responded with two goals to take the lead.
Sophomore Logan Hascarl tied the game off passes from Sherman and sophomore Liam Butler.
The Black and Blue took the lead again with two goals to start the second period.
Senior Wyatt Wilderman scored with 2.2 left in the second period, with freshman John Swiatek and Cody Faber adding the assists.
CUW was able to take a 5-4 lead with goals by Cody Faber and sophomore Easton Williams.
The Sabres scored a short-handed goal and on the power play in overtime to win.
Senior Dakota Delbridge had 51 saves on Saturday.
CUW closes the regular season next weekend against Purdue Northwest.
