Falcons ground the Flyers on Sunday afternoon

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW ACHA men's hockey team defended home ice on Sunday afternoon with a 6-3 victory to improve to 5-6-0 on the season.

Sophomore Easton Williams lit the lamp with a power-play goal to start the game off passes from freshman John Swiatek (Rochester, N.Y.) and senior Cody Faber (Wilmot, Wis.).

The Flyers tied the game up 10 minutes later.

Senior Andrew Doepp (New Lenox, Ill.) gave the Falcons the lead again with 53.3 left in the first period.

Sophomore Scott Gregor extended the lead in the second period with John Swiatek adding the assist.

The Flyers cut into the Concordia lead 10 seconds later.

John Swiatek scored the next two Concordia goals to add to the CUW lead, including one goal on the penalty kill.

Killing off a five-on-three penalty, the Falcons were able to score again shorthanded, this time sophomore Trenton Sherman finding the back of the net.

Senior Dakota Delbridge (Tracy, Calif.) once again posted a strong performance in net with 37 saves.

The CUW special teams units scored twice shorthanded and once on the power play and killed off all seven penalties.

The Falcons will look to continue their winning streak on Friday night at Marian.
