A look back at 2020: July
MEQUON, Wis. – Over the next few weeks, we will be taking a look back at 2020. Through all of the ups and downs, there has been a lot to cheer about in 2020 at CUW. We continue our series today with July.
The honors rolled in for the Falcons in July as the sun shined down on Concordia.
On July 14, 236 CUW student-athletes claimed the NACC Scholar-Athlete Award with a grade-point average of 3.25 or higher for the academic year.
The men's basketball program had five players named to the NABC Honors Court on July 16 with Jordan Johnson (Cedarburg, Wis.), Jacob Lord (Anaheim, Calif.), Nolan Rhey (Kenosha, Wis.), Isaiah Tenette (Sacramento, Calif.) and Joey Zietlow (Oak Creek, Wis.) and the team claimed the NABC Team Academic Excellence Award.
The track & field teams claimed USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams and Samual Spranger (Fond du Lac, Wis.), Megan Curran (Spring Grove, Ill.) and Alden Goucher (Port Charlotte, Fla.) were all named All-Academic Athletes.
Both volleyball teams claimed USMC/AVCA Team Academic Award honors.
Jeremy Crawford was promoted to Director of Athletic Communications, after serving as the assistant director for two years.
On July 16, the Southern Athletic Association suspended play for the field hockey season.
The Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference announced the postponement for fall competitions and championship events on July 27.
