HOW IT HAPPENED
- The winning streak against MWLC opponents has lasted three-plus season – 28 and counting – but that doesn't really matter to Concordia Wisconsin, whose goal is to become MWLC regular season champions. They can check that off their bucket list, well almost completely, as they need to defeat Augsburg this coming Friday to win it outright with an undefeated record.
- The Cougars posed little threat to the Falcons, as the hosts jumped out to a 3-0 lead just over four minutes into the game and added five more in a row to take an 8-1 halftime lead.
- Concordia Wisconsin continued to score in the second half and had the running-clock rule initiated with 15:32 to play in the contest. Overall, they held a 35-17 lead in shots, 11-6 advantage in draw controls and were a perfect 18-of-18 on the clear.
- The Falcons also scored a season-high-tying five free-position goals.
- Sophomore Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.), junior Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) and sophomore Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario) all had hat tricks in the victory. Paquin also assisted on two scores. Junior Caitlin Henry (Lansing, Ill.) added two free-position goals, three ground balls, three draw controls and two caused turnovers.
- Kurek led all players with six draw controls.
- Senior Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) made six saves in a complete game effort.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- At halftime, the program honored its three seniors – Metanova, Ariana Worthing (Saginaw, Mich.) and Allie Novick (Schaumburg, Ill.) – which is the winning class in program history.
- Concordia Wisconsin is 6-0 at home and has outscored opponents 85-25 at Fitting Field this season.
- The Falcons five free-position goals are tied for the fourth-most in a game in program history.
- Kennedy's three goals were a career high.
THE OPPOSITION
- Margaret Doane had two goals for the Cougars, while Anna Kellar and Sydney Fuller each scored.
- Doane also won four draw controls and Krystal Phillips made 14 saves in net.
NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- Concordia Wisconsin will play for an undefeated MWLC season with a Friday 4 pm matchup against Augsburg.
