Women's Lacrosse routs Wartburg in MWLC opener

MEQUON, Wis. – It was a one-goal game with 14 minutes elapsed off the game clock, but then Concordia Wisconsin flipped the offensive switch and scored seven goals in a row twice during the remainder of the game en route to a 17-3 MWLC victory over Wartburg.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Wartburg's Lauren Sinkovitz was outstanding in goal to start the game, making 12 saves in the first half but Concordia Wisconsin's offense was too good in the end.
- The Falcons had four players record a hat trick and eight players found the back of the net at least once.
- Concordia Wisconsin compiled seven consecutive goals in a row twice over the game's final 46 minutes of action. Sophomore Lauren Paquin's final goal with 18:36 to play in the game was enough to initiate the running-clock rule, as the Falcons led 13-3.
- Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.), freshman Nicole DeMeo (Niles, Ill.), junior Caitlin Henry (Lansing, Ill.) and junior Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) each scored three goals in the victory. Paquin also assisted on a career-high-tying three markers.
- Sophomore Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) added two goals, both on free-position attempts.
- Freshman Jenny Rudenga and Kurek each won five draw controls, while sophomore Ellie Woodman (Janesville, Wis.) and Kurek had three caused turnovers apiece.
- Senior Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) made eight saves in a winning effort.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Freshman Issy Bilton (Burlington, Ontario) scored her first career goal with 1:43 to play in the game.
- Freshman Jenny Rudenga (Elmhurst, Ill.) tallied her first career goal with 22:27 to play in the first half.
- Paquin's three assists are tied for the eighth most in a game in program history.
- Concordia Wisconsin scored five free-position goals, which is tied for the fourth-most in a game in program history.
- The Falcons have never lost to the Knights in five meetings and have outscored them 92-10.

THE OPPOSITION
- Allie Stahmer had two goals, while Sophia Corpstein found the back of the net once.
- Alex Pollock had three caused turnover to lead the defensive efforts.
- Lauran Sinkovitz had 13 saves, including 12 in the first half.
