Tigers shut down Falcons offense

SEWANEE, Tenn. – Sewanee's defense limited Concordia Wisconsin to just 10 shots, as the host Tigers won 12-6 in non-conference play on Monday afternoon at Puett Field.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sewanee scored back-to-back goals with 11 seconds of each other to go in front 2-0 with 86 seconds having elapsed off the game clock. The Tigers offense continued to score, while their defense was impressive and allowed just five Falcon shots through 30 minutes of play.
- Concordia Wisconsin found itself down 11-2 with less than 13 minutes to play before stringing together three markers in a row. Junior Caitlin Henry (Lansing, Ill.) scored successive goals within a minute of each other.
- Overall, the Tigers outshot the Falcons 33-10 and held a 13-7 advantage in draw control wins. Neither team controlled the ball well, as there were a combined 64 turnovers.
- Sophomore Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.) had a goal and an assist, while freshman Emily Kuhlman (Cold Springs, Minn.) recorded a goal and an assist. Sophomore Christina Pattengale (Portage, Mich.) and sophomore Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario) also found the back of the net.
- Senior Veronika Metanova (Palatine, Ill.) made 11 saves in a complete game effort. Metanova and junior Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) each had five ground balls.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons had a free-position goal and extend their streak to six games in a row dating back to last season with such a marker.
- The spring break trip to the Volunteer State is the first for Concordia Wisconsin.

THE OPPOSITION
- Meredith Sackett led all scorers with four goals, while Kelly Thomsen and Mary Kate Myers had tallied two markers.
- Grace Fulton and Kit Sommi each had four ground balls, and a trio of Tigers won three draw controls.
- Brianna Young started the game in goal and made two saves during 30 minutes of action to earn the win.
