Women’s Basketball advances to NACC Tournament Championship

MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Concordia Wisconsin led wire-to-wire on Saturday afternoon during a grind-it-out 61-52 victory over Benedictine to advance to the NACC Tournament Championship game for the second-straight year.

The Falcons will play against Wisconsin Lutheran in a battle of the top-seeded teams in the NACC Tournament Championship game on Sunday at 3 pm on the campus of Wisconsin Lutheran.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons never trailed in the game, leading for 37 minutes and 33 seconds, and the majority of the time they were ahead by single digits. They did hold a double-digit lead for roughly two minutes in the victory.
- One of the many strengths of Concordia Wisconsin is its free throw shooting and down the stretch, they showed why. After Benedictine got within three points, 55-52, with 1:49 to play it became a free throw shooting contest. The Falcons drained 6-of-8 free throws to increase their lead to nine points and put the game out of reach.
- Concordia Wisconsin was balanced scoring the basketball, as six players had at least six points. Junior Baylee Barker (Oconomowoc, Wis.) led all players with 17 points, to go along with five assists and two rebounds.
- Senior Audrey Scharmer (Winona, Minn.) had her 14th double-double of the season with 11 points and 13 rebounds while dishing out three assists. Senior Brianna Wagner (Fond du Lac, Wis.) recorded nine points, five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and two steals.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons will play in their sixth NACC Tournament Championship game, having won a title in 2009 and 2007.

THE OPPOSITION
- D'Asia Williams scored a team-high 15 points, while Venita Parsons had 14 points. Julie Jurasits had nine points and seven rebounds off the bench.
- Benedictine held a 37-29 advantage in rebounds and hauled in 15 offensive rebounds, which were converted into 11 second-chance points.
- The Eagles also tallied 28 points in the paint.
