Men's Tennis edged by Greenville in non-conference play

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Tennis team fell in a close match to Greenville College Saturday afternoon. The Falcons were coming off an 8-1 victory Friday night over Concordia Seminary, St. Louis.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Greenville picked up wins in two of three doubles matches to gain a 2-1 advantage on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons lone victory in doubles play came at the No. 1 position as senior Benjamin Nommensen (Waupaca, Wis.) and sophomore Brad Guendel (Greendale, Wis.) netted an 8-3 win.
- Singles play saw both the Falcons and Panthers earn three wins. CUW picked up wins at No. 2, 5, and 6 singles, while the Panthers had wins in the No. 1, 3 and 4 positions .
- Freshman Christian Doctor (Madison, Wis.) won fell in his opening set 1-6 before bouncing back to win 6-3 in his second set. He was able to pick up a 10-8 win in the tiebreaker, earning a victory at No. 2 singles for the Falcons.
- CUW picked up straight set wins at No. 5and No. 6 singles by junior Trevor Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) and senior Robert (Wauwatosa, Wis.). Budewitz won 6-1, 6-3 at the No. 5 spot, while Spiering rolled to a 6-2, 6-4 win.

UP NEXT
- CUW will begin conference play on Saturday, April 9 as they host Dominican and Concordia Chicago. The Falcons face off against Dominican at 10 am and then take on Concordia Chicago at 2 pm.
