Strong singles play guides Men's Tennis past St. Norbert

JACKSON, Wis. – After falling behind 2-1 following the conclusion of doubles play, the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Tennis team rallied for a 5-4 win over St. Norbert in non-conference action Friday night. The Falcons picked up wins in four of six singles matches to rally past the Green Knights.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons picked up wins at No. 1, 2, 3 and 6 singles in the comeback win. The clinching win for CUW came at No. 1 singles where senior Benjamin Nommensen (Waupaca, Wis.) netted a 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 win to give the Falcons their fifth point of the evening.

- At No. 2 singles, sophomore Brad Guendel (Greendale, Wis.) dropped his opening set by a 6-1 score before rallying back for a key victory. Guendel won the second set 6-1 and picked up a 10-5 win in the tiebreaker set.

- CUW got straight set wins from freshman Christian Docter (Madison, Wis.) and senior Robert Spiering (Wauwatosa, Wis.) at No. 3 and 6 singles, respectively. The two posted identical 6-2, 6-3 victories.

- The lone doubles win for the Falcons came from Nommensen and junior Trevor Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.). The Falcons top duo posted an 8-6 win as all three doubles matches were closely contested. CUW dropped 9-7 contests at No. 2 and 3 doubles.
