Men's Tennis predicted third in NACC Preseason Poll

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Tennis team has been predicted to finish third in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, according to the preseason poll which was released Tuesday morning.

The poll, which is voted on by the league's head coaches and athletic communications personnel, picked Edgewood to repeat as NACC Champions. The Eagles picked up 16 of the possible 18 first-place votes. The Falcons had a first-place vote of their own, while MSOE had the other one.

CUW finished third a season ago after posting a 6-2 league mark. The Falcons advanced to the semifinals of the NACC Tournament, falling 5-2 against MSOE. CUW returns three All-NACC performers from last season, including last year's Freshman of the Year, Brad Guendel. Guendel (Greendale, Wis.) was also on the All-NACC Doubles team with senior Benjamin Nommensen (Waupaca, Wis.). Junior Trevor Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) earned All-NACC Singles Team honors a season ago as well.

Following Edgewood (160 poll points) was MSOE (142), with CUW tallying 130 points. Aurora was tabbed fifth with 91 points, followed by Wisconsin Lutheran (87) and Dominican (85). Lakeland (45), Concordia Chicago (43) and Marian (27) rounded out the poll.

The Falcons will begin the spring season on Friday with the first of three matches over the weekend. CUW will take on Ripon Friday, before doing battle with Carroll and St. Mary's on Saturday.
