Nommensen gains second NACC Weekly Award of Season

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin senior Benjamin Nommensen was named the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week, the league office announced Monday. It was the second weekly honor for Nommensen this season.

Nommensen (Waupaca, Wis.) picked up wins in both of his matches last Friday against North Central. His No. 1 singles match went to a third set tiebreaker, where he gained a 6-2, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5) victory.

The senior then partnered with junior Trevor Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.) for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles. The Falcons were narrowly defeated by North Central in the non-conference dual, by a 5-4 decision.

The weekly honor was the fourth of Nommensen's career and second this season. He also earned the NACC weekly award once last season, and once in 2014.

Nommensen and the Falcons will return to action next Monday with a pair of dual matches to begin their spring trip. CUW will play five matches over five days in Hilton Head, S.C., beginning with FDU-Florham and Endicott on Monday.
