Kahlfeldt scores career-high, Kittel reaches 1,000 career points, Falcons win

AURORA, Ill. – Keith Kahlfeldt poured in a career-high 42 points as Concordia Wisconsin topped Aurora, 120-110, Saturday afternoon inside the Thornton Gymnasium. Junior guard Eric Kittel also notched 28 points for the Falcons and surpassed the 1,000 point plateau for his career.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- In a game that combined for 230 points, CUW scored 62 second half points to top the Spartans 120-110 on the road in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup.
- The Falcons trailed only by three at the half but Aurora continued to hold a slight lead early out of the intermission. About four minutes into the final half of play CUW would outscore the Spartans 18-6 over a six minute span to pull ahead of Aurora and would never trail the rest of the game.
- Kahlfeldt (New Berlin, Wis.) had the game of his career as he poured in a career-high 42 points on 14-of-20 shooting from the field which included seven 3-pointers to lead the Falcons.
- Kittel (Brillion, Wis.) had a stellar game as well as he finished with 28 points. He drained four three pointers and went 12-of-13 from the charity stripe. He scored 22 of his 28 points in the second half.
- Seniors Trevor Krizenesky (Brillion, Wis.) and James Mitchell (St. Louis, Mo.) were the only other two Falcons to reach double-digits as they finished with 13 and 10 points, respectively.
- Both teams shot the ball extremely well, but it was CUW's three point and free shooting that was the difference. The Falcons shot 46.9 percent (15-of-32) from beyond the arc and shot 80.5 percent (33-of-41) from the free throw line.
- The Spartans shot only 38.1 percent (8-of-21) from downtown and finished 77.8 percent (14-of-18) on free throws.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Kittel becomes the 15th player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.
- Kahlfeldt's 42 points is the second most scored in a game by Falcon and his seven 3-pointres also ranks second in 3-pointers made in a game.
- 120 points is the most scored in a game in CUW history, the 15 made 3-pointers ties for fourth most all-time and the 33 made free throws ties for second all-time.

THE OPPOSITION
- Aurora was led by Kalmon Stokes who scored 31 points and pulled in eight rebounds.
- Nick Kladis added 22 points and Tyler Hall scored 20 points for the Spartans.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons travel Edgewood on Wednesday Feb. 17 to take on the Eagles in their final road game of the regular season. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
