Prinsen leads balanced Falcons attack over MSOE

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin fell behind early to MSOE but midway through the first half the Falcons caught fire and used multiple runs, hot shooting and a balanced scoring attack to lead them to a 86-64 over MSOE in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference matchup.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons got off to a cold start and fell behind by as much as nine, five minutes into the game. With just under nine minutes remaining in the half, CUW would put together a 16-3 over the next three and a half minutes to take a 30-23 and would not relinquish that lead going into the locker room.
- CUW drained three triples during the run, two of which coming from senior guard Brad Prinsen (Oostburg, Wis.) who scored 15 first half points.
- Coming out of the locker room, MSOE fought back and would eventually gain a two point early in the second half, but the Falcons responded yet again putting together yet another impressive 11-3 run with just under 14 minutes remaining in the game led by senior guard Taron Edwards (Racine, Wis.) who scored seven of his 13 points during the run.
- From then on it was all CUW, as the Falcons continued to put on an impressive shooting display to build their lead and come away with the 86-64 win. The Falcons would lead by as much as 22 in the second half.
- CUW finished the game shooting 51.6 percent (32-of-62) from the field and also drained nine 3-pointers. Five Falcons reached double-figures led by Prinsen with 19 points and he also dished out a game-high five assists. Senior forward Keith Kahlfeldt (New Berlin, Wis.) added 17, Edwards totaled 13 off the bench and Senior guard Malcolm Bowers (Germantown, Wis.) and junior guard Eric Kittel (Germantown, Wis.) each scored 11.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons shot a season-high 86.7 percent (13-of-15) from the free-throw line on the night.
- Prinsen's 19 points on the night tied his season-high which he originally set in CUW's last meeting against MSOE. His five assists also tied his career-high.
- The 51.6 percent shot by the Falcons marks the fifth time this season CUW has shot over 50 percent for a game.

THE OPPOSITION
- MSOE was led by Connor Peterson who scored a game-high 20 points and also pulled in six rebounds.
- Austin Stueck added 14 for the Raiders and grabbed five rebounds.

- The Falcons continue conference play as they take on Rockford on Saturday Jan. 23. Tip-off is set for 2 pm.
