Mitchell leads balanced scoring attack to top Stars

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin started off on the right foot in their first Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference game of the season, defeating Dominican 99-79 behind a balanced scoring attack.

THE BASICS
- Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 99, Dominican 79
- Location: R. John Buuck Fieldhouse – Mequon, Wis.
- Records: Concordia Wisconsin 2-0, 1-0 NACC; Dominican 0-2, 0-1 NACC 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CUW came out attacking the basket and building an early lead which they would never relinquish. Senior forward James Mitchell (St. Louis, Mo.) led a balanced scoring attack with 16 points.
- The Falcons put together multiple runs in the first half and shot an impressive 56.7 percent (17-of-30) from the field in the first 20 minutes of play.
- CUW's bench would again provide a big spark for the team in the first half as they outscored Dominican's bench 20-6. Senior guard Trevor Krizenesky (Brillion, Wis) and sophomore guard Matt Wilke (Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) each had five points off the bench in the first half.
- In the final five minutes of the first half, CUW would push their lead from 11 to 20 going into the intermission. Junior guard Eric Kittel (Brillion, Wis.) would lead the final push before the half, scoring six points off two 3-pointers to help build the lead.
- Coming out in the second half, the Falcons picked up right where they left off, pushing their lead to 27 points only two and half minutes into the half.
- CUW continued their hot shooting in the second half and would finish the game shooting 54.4 percent (31-of-57) from the floor.
- The Falcons would finish the game with seven players scoring in double-digits.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Mitchell's 16 points, set a new career high for the senior forward. He also pulled in eight rebounds which is also a new career-high.
- Wilke also set a new career-high in points with 14.
- Senior guard Brad Prinsen (Oostburg, Wis.) also hauled in a career-high eight rebounds.
- The last time CUW had seven players score in double figures was last season, in a 100-75 win at Rockford (Jan. 17, 2015).
- Kittel finished the game with five assists and no turnovers, making it the ninth game of his career where had three or more assists and no turnovers.

THE OPPOSITION
- Dominican was led by Josh Mayberry and Tim Robertson with 19 and 18 points, respectively.

UP NEXT
- CUW will travel to UW-Eau Claire next Tuesday, Nov. 24 for their first road game of the season. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
