Men’s Basketball soars past Edgewood in conference matchup

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin controlled the game from start to finish Tuesday night against Edgewood, topping the Eagles 94-54 in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference match-up. The Falcons points in paint, defense and bench production were all key attributes to the win.

THE BASICS
Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 94, Edgewood 54
Location: R. John Buuck Field House (Mequon, Wis.)
Records: Concordia Wisconsin 7-6, 5-4 NACC, Edgewood 1-13, 1-8 NACC

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons got off to a hot start and never looked back jumping out to a 10 point lead in the first two and a half minutes of the game. CUW's defense was a key contributor to the early lead forcing four turnovers on four of Edgewood's first six possessions of the game.
- Edgewood would get as close as six, but an 11-0 run with 12 minutes remaining the first half rebuilt the Falcon's lead to 17. Senior guard Taron Edwards (Racine, Wis.) scored seven points during the stretch run.
- Edwards wouldn't stop there as he finished with 12 first half points helping CUW to a 42-28 halftime lead.
- Coming out of the locker room, the Falcons picked up right where they left off scoring 12 of their first 15 points in the paint. The Falcons controlled the paint all night long outscoring Edgewood 56-14 in the paint.
- CUW's lead continued to grow and would reach 40 thanks to the Falcon's pesky defense and the production of the bench that produced 49 of the team's 94 points. Edwards led the bench charge with 14 points, grabbed seven rebounds and dished out six assists both team-highs. Sophomore guard Josh Erickson (Manitowoc, Wis.) chipped in with 10 points and freshman guard Jake Jurss (Sheboygan, Wis.) tallied eight points off the bench.
- The Falcons finished with four players scoring in double figures led by senior forward Keith Kahlfeldt (New Berlin, Wis.) with 16 points. As a team CUW pulled in 51 rebounds (18 offensive), dished out 22 assists, forced 17 turnovers and came away with 13 steals.
