Kahlfeldt and Kittel lead Men’s Basketball to NACC win over Marian

FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin topped Marian University, 83-79 Saturday afternoon to remain unbeaten in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference.

THE BASICS
- Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 83, Marian 79
- Location: Sadoff Gym – Fond du Lac, Wis.
- Records: Concordia Wisconsin 3-1, 2-0 NACC; Marian 3-2, 0-1 NACC

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CUW jumped out to an early lead against Marian and would not look back the rest of the game. The score would be tied three times in the game but CUW would never trail at any point.
- The Falcons would push their lead to as much as 10 with less than three minutes left in the first half but the Sabres would counter with an 8-0 run to trim the Falcons lead to two going into the half.
- CUW was on fire from three point range in the first half, shooting 66.7 percent (6-of-9) from downtown.
- Senior forward Keith Kahlfeldt (New Berlin, Wis.) and junior guard Eric Kittel (Brillion, Wis.) led the Falcons offensive attack in the first half with 10 and 11 points, respectively.
- Coming out of the halftime break, CUW picked up right where they left off using a 19-2 run in the first four minutes of the second half to build their lead to 19.
- Kahlfeldt and senior forward James Mitchell (St. Louis, Mo.) combined to score 11 of the 19 points during the Falcons run.
- Marian would not go away as they countered with an 18-1 run to trim CUW's lead to two with under two minutes remaining game.
- Coming out of a timeout and the Falcons still leading by, senior guard Brad Prinsen (Oostburg, Wis.) would hit a big three point basket to give CUW a five point lead with 53 seconds remaining in the game.
- The Sabres would answer with a three pointer of their own but Prinsen and Kittel would hit some clutch free throws in the final 20 seconds to give the Falcons the win.
- Kahlfeldt and Kittel led CUW with 21 and 20 points, respectively.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The last time the Falcons had two players score 20 or more points in the same game was against Concordia Chicago on Jan. 7, 2015.
- Senior guard Taron Edwards led CUW with six rebounds for the game. Edwards has led the team in rebound three out of the first four games of the season.
- The Falcons finished the month of November with a 3-1 record.

THE OPPOSITION
- Marian was led by Josh Creed who had a game-high 25 points.
- Montrell Hobbs finished the game with a double-double, scoring 16 points and pulling in 13 rebounds.

- CUW returns home to take on Lakeland on Tuesday, Dec 1. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
