Late run pushes No. 5 Benedictine past cold shooting Falcons

LISLE, Ill. – Concordia University Wisconsin got off to a quick start and led for a majority of the game, but Benedictine battled back and would take the lead late in the game and from there the Eagles would maintain that lead the rest of the game as they went on to defeat the Falcons 76-67 for the second time this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- CUW got off to a quick start against Benedictine and led for 34 minutes of the game. The Eagles would not take their first lead of the game until the 13:26 mark in the second half but the Falcons would quickly regain that lead on the next possession off two free-throws from senior Taron Edwards (Racine, Wis.).
- The Falcons would build a seven point lead with just less than 10 minutes remaining in the game but Benedictine would outscore CUW 19-6 the rest of the way to seal the 76-67 conference win.
- CUW did force 17 turnovers and only committed six turnovers on their side of the ball but the Falcons shot 21.1 percent (8-of-38) from the field and 12.5 percent (2-of-16) from downtown in the second half.
- Benedictine finished the game shooting 47.4 percent (27-of-57) from the field compared to CUW who shot 34.7 percent (26-of-75) from the field for the game.
- Senior forward Keith Kahlfeldt (New Berlin, Wis.) led all Falcon scorers with 13 points on the afternoon.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The six turnovers committed by the Falcons is a season-low for the team and the second time this season they have committed fewer than 10 turnovers.
- CUW attempted 30 three-point field goals on the afternoon, it is the fourth time this season the Falcons have attempted 30 or more three-point field goals in a game.
- Senior Malcolm Bowers (Germantown, Wis.) pulled in a team-high 10 rebounds which ties his career-high from the 2012-13 season.

THE OPPOSITION
- Benedictine was led by Lucas Johnson who scored a game-high 17 points and pulled in 16 rebounds. He also added eight blocks for the game.
- Michael Blaszczyk added 14 points and five rebounds while Adam Reynolds and Brayden Olson each added 10 points.

NEXT ON THE SCHEDULE
- The Falcons continue conference play as they return home to take on MSOE on Wednesday, Jan. 20 to take on the Raiders. Tip-off is set for 7 pm inside the R. John Buuck Field House.
