Volleyball helps Playworks organization

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia University Wisconsin recently volunteered its time with Playworks in inner city Milwaukee. The Falcons taught volleyball fundamentals with the children.

Playworks is an organization that is dedicated to helping teachers and principals create a fun, safe and motivational environment for kids during recess time. Recess is such an important part of the day because it is a time for the children to re-energize their minds. When children feel a sense of connectedness and inspiration, they are likely to carry that positive recess experience with them beyond the playground.

"The main focus of that day was to teach the kids some volleyball fundamentals!" head coach Janelle Gabrielsen-Katz said. "We enjoyed working with all who are involved with Playworks and hope to continue this relationship with them."
