Jehlicka, Gabrielsen-Katz lead Volleyball in NACC postseason awards

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin was represented well in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference postseason awards, the league office announced Tuesday morning. Ashley Jehlicka was named Freshman of the Year and Janelle Gabrielsen-Katz earned Co-Coach of the Year honors.

Jehlicka (Salem, Wis.) earned Freshman of the Year, All-NACC First Team and All-NACC Freshman Team honors after posting a league-high eight triple doubles, to go along with 23 double-doubles. The rookie was first on the team with 276 kills, a .276 attack percentage and 469 assists. She was also third with 362 digs and 57 total blocks, and fourth 22 service aces.

Gabrielsen-Katz, in her second year as head coach, was named NACC Co-Coach of the Year along with Jeanne Dzipri who led Dominican University, the league's top team. Gabrielsen-Katz directed the Falcons to a program record 24 victories. They had little trouble during the season and at times made it look easy with 17 victories coming by sweep.

Senior Britta Duchow (Potter, Wis.) was named All-NACC First Team after finishing second in the conference with 101 total blocks. She was also led the league with a 1.04 blocks per set average. Duchow ended her career ninth all-time in league history with 323 total blocks, tied for fifth with 251 block assists and 23rd with 72 solo blocks.

Senior Hannah Griffiths (Antigo, Wis.) was named All-NACC First Team for the second-straight year after becoming just the seventh player in league history to record over 900 kills and 1,300 digs in a career. She also finished her career 18th all-time in NACC history with 121 service aces. This season Griffiths was first on the team with 43 service aces and second with 242 kills and 388 digs.
