Women’s Tennis will battle for fourth-straight title

MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW women's tennis team will compete for its fourth-straight NACC Tournament title on Sunday in Madison, Wisconsin.

The Falcons will open Sunday against Illinois Tech. The Falcons won the September meeting at home, 5-4.

The Blue and White are 1-0 all-time against Illinois Tech.

Edgewood will take on MSOE in the other semifinal match.

This year, CUW fell to Edgewood 3-6 and defeated MSOE 9-0. CUW is 10-9 all-time against Edgewood and is 15-0 against the Raiders.

CUW is 11-5 all-time in the NACC Tournament.

In 2018, the Falcons downed Marian, 5-0, and Edgewood, 5-2, to win the title.

The Falcons look to be the first-ever No. 2 seed to win the NACC Tournament, with the top seed winning the previous eight tournaments.

The Blue and White bring three 2018-19 All-NACC honorees into the weekend in freshman Ricki Budewitz (Watertown, Wis.), senior Bailey Kelly (Racine, Wis.) and senior Ashley Solberg (Waukesha, Wis.). The Falcons also have two All-NACC doubles teams in Ashley Solberg and junior Rebekah Spiegelhoff (Mount Pleasant, Wis.) and Bailey Kelly and Ricki Budewitz.

CUW enters the match riding a two-match winning streak with victories over St. Norbert and Carroll.

Edgewood leads the NACC with four titles in 2011, 2013, 2014 and 2015. Wisconsin Lutheran won the tournament in 2012.
