Women's Tennis predicted to repeat as NACC Champions
Milwaukee, Wis. - Concordia Wisconsin's Women's Tennis program has been selected to repeat as champions in the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference, according to the league's preseason poll voted on by the league's head coaches and sports information directors.
The Falcons earned 14 of the 22 first-place votes and 231 points in the poll. Last season, CUW went a perfect 9-0 in league play (20-6 overall) and earned a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament by virtue of winning the NACC Tournament title.
Edgewood was second in the poll with four first-place votes and 218 points. Illinois Tech took in the remaining four first-place votes and is projected to place third with 186 points.
MSOE (171), Marian (153), and Wisconsin Lutheran (140) each had over 100 points in the poll, and are predicted to finish fourth, fifth, and sixth respectively.
Alverno (97), Aurora (92), Lakeland (89), Dominican (45), and Concordia Chicago (30) rounded out the final five spots in the poll.
The Falcons start their season in non-conference play, as they host Carroll at 4 pm on Friday, August 31 before starting NACC play on Tuesday, September 4 vs MSOE.
The NACC's regular season standings determine the teams that qualify for the six-team conference tournament in the spring, while the tourney champion receives the league's automatic bid to the NCAA III Championship Tournament.
