Wrestling drops heartbreaker at Lakeland

SHEBOYGAN, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin and Lakeland College went back-and-forth in a heated dual meet on Thursday evening, but it was the Muskies that earned a 21-17 victory inside Woltzen Gymnasium.

After responding from a 15-7 deficit, CUW trailed by a point, 18-17, entering the 285-pound bout between senior Seth Kilkelly (Barneveld, Wis.) and Jeremy Kroeger. The final bout of the night went to overtime and ended in favor of the Muskies by decision, 3-0.

The Falcons picked up major decision wins by senior Marcus Lubner (Fredonia, Wis.) at 133 pounds by a 14-2 score, while junior Jake Reuteler (New Berlin, Wis.) won 11-2 at 197 pounds.

Junior Sean Ambrocio (San Antonio, Texas) won by decision 16-10 at 125 pounds, while junior Casey Kenealy (Hartford, Wis.) earned a 3-2 win at 165 pounds and senior Leonard Kuspa (Oak Forest, Ill.) picked up a 4-0 victory at 174 pounds.

CUW built a quick 7-0 lead to begin the match, but fell behind after LC scored 15 unanswered points. The Falcons responded with victories in three of the next four bouts to trail by a point, 18-17, entering the final bout.

CUW next competes on Saturday at the Northern Wrestling Association Tournament, which is hosted by MSOE.
