Augsburg edges out Women's Lacrosse in regular season finale

Minneapolis, Minn. – Concordia Wisconsin traveled to Edor Nelson Field to take on Augsburg, in a battle for the second seed in the MWLC. Augsburg was able to keep CUW's offense at bay and outscore the Falcons 5-3 in the second half to come away with the 8-5 victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED 
- Junior Lauren Paquin (Waukesha, Wis.) answered Augsburg's two-goals with a goal of her own to make it her second of the game. The score was brought the Falcons back within one, until the Auggies scored three straight goals to take a commanding 8-4 lead heading into the final minute of regulation. Junior Kristen Kennedy (London, Ontario) was able to fire in one more goal for CUW from a free position attempt, but the visitors weren't able to muster anymore and fell to Augsburg by the final 8-5.   
- Coming out of halftime, Concordia Wisconsin knew they had to get off to a fast start. Paquin made sure of that after scoring just 44 seconds into the half, tying the game at 3-3. Augsburg responded with back-to-back goals to take a two-goal lead heading into the final 13 minutes of the half.
- Concordia Wisconsin came out determined to steal a victory on the road, as senior Caitlin Henry (Lansing, Ill.) was able to put the Falcons on the board first, and then four minutes later senior Allison Kurek (Chicago, Ill.) netted another goal to put CUW up 2-1. Augsburg came right back to score two goals to close out the first half and go into halftime up 3-2. 
- The Falcons were led by Paquin who had a team-high two goals and picked up six ground balls. Ellie Woodman had a strong day defensively coming away with six ground balls and six caused turnovers. Kurek had five ground balls, four draw controls, and six caused turnovers for CUW. Sophomore Kennedy Boyer (Saline, Mich.) was able to make 19 saves in 60 minutes of play.    

THE OPPOSITION
-  Mikayla Knudson, Delaney Everett and Izzy Snow all were able to score two goals for the Auggies. Annika Hegrenes had four ground balls and caused five turnovers, while Citlaly Escobar recorded three ground balls and four caused turnovers for Augsburg.
