Women's Lacrosse falls at Carthage

KENOSHA, Wis. – Carthage College began the game with a dominating 10-0 scoring run before winning 15-6 over Concordia University Wisconsin in Midwest Women's Lacrosse Conference play at Art Keller Field.

It took just over three minutes before the Lady Reds found the back of the net and the flood gates opened after that with five more goals over the next six minutes. CC (9-5, 4-1 MWLC) outshot CUW by a 24-9 advantage in the first half, which included two free-position goals.

Junior Aly Pinkos (South Milwaukee, Wis.) tallied the Falcons (5-6, 3-3 MWLC) only goal in the first half before the horn sounded with a Lady Reds 11-1 lead.

CUW's offense came alive, compared to the opening 30 minutes of play, with five goals all by a different player. Pinkos and senior Sam Mewuissen (Chanhassen, Minn.) each tallied a free-position goal, but the lead was too large as CC answered with four goals, two free-position, to maintain its double-figure lead until the end.

Sophomore Haley Peppers (Franktown, Colo.) finished with a career-high-tying six draw control wins, while sophomore Hannah Redden (Libertyville, Ill.) had a career-best six ground balls.

CUW returns to action on Wednesday with a MWLC game Beloit College at Fitting Field starting at 5 p.m.
