
Nine from Women's Hockey named to NCHA All-Academic Team

WAUKESHA, Wis. - For the second consecutive season the Concordia University Wisconsin Women's Hockey team had nine players selected to the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association All-Academic Team. The league announced the team, along with the conference's Scholar-Athlete Award Winner on Thursday.
In order to qualify for the All-Academic Team a player must have a GPA of 3.3 or higher and be at least a sophomore as freshman are not eligible for the honor.
Three Falcons earned the honor for the second time, including the team's lone senior, forward Maxine Blohowiak (Green Bay, Wis.). Blohowiak recently completed a career in which she played 101 games, scoring 29 points. She finished her career with 21 assists, tied for eighth most in school history. She was an athletic training major.
Joining the senior in earning the award for a second time were juniors Andrea Mizanskey (Palos Heights, Ill.) and Elizabeth Otto (Stillwater, Minn.). Both players major in nursing.
The Falcons also had six first-year recipients. Sophomores Jayda Hoerres (Melrose, Wis.), Alexis Machuga (Rochester Hills, Mich.), Katherine Pauletti (Roseville, Minn.), Nina Puch (Des Plaines, Ill.), Chelsea Regan (Oakdale, Minn.) and Erica Widas (De Pere, Wis.) were all honored in their first year of being eligible for the award.
The nine players for CUW ranked second among the seven teams in the conference. Only St. Scholastica finished with more (10).
