Slater secures NCHA Defensive Player of the Week honor
WAUKESHA, Wis. – Freshman goaltender Bridget Slater had a career weekend against Marian University and for her efforts was named the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Defensive Player of the Week.
Slater stopped 43 shots over two games for the Falcons in her second and third career starts. Allowing just two goals in each game, the freshman netminder was able to secure her first two career wins. She posted a career-high in saves in each game, making 19 in the 3-2 Friday win and topping that with 25 in Saturday's 5-2 victory. Both Falcon wins helped secure a No. 5 seed in the NCHA Playoffs.
Logan Taylor of Lake Forest was named the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week after posting three assists in a 6-3 victory over Adrian College.
Slater and the Falcons will return to action this weekend with a pair of NCHA games to conclude the regular season schedule. CUW will host Lake Forest Friday night at 7 p.m. before welcoming Adrian to the Ozaukee Ice Center on Saturday at 2 p.m.
