Third-Quarter Surge Lifts North Central

NAPERVILLE, Ill. – The Concordia Wisconsin women's basketball team once again battled on Saturday afternoon in a tough non-conference battle at North Central. The Falcons moved to 0-4 with a 66-85 loss.

The Falcons' first lead of the night came with 8:04 left in the first quarter when senior Aubrey DeBauch (Gillett, Wis.) scored on a layup.

A layup from sophomore Jayden Ross (Baraboo, Wis.) elevated the lead up to 12-7 with 5:29 left in the quarter.

The Falcons closed the first quarter on a 5-0 run that was capped off by sophomore Gracie McNabb (Grafton, Wis.) draining a three-point basket before the buzzer sounded to give CUW a 25-18 lead after 10 minutes.

The 25 points are the most for the Falcons in any quarter this season.

The Falcons soared at the start of the second quarter after Gracie McNabb sank another three-point basket with 8:58 left and then Aubrey DeBauch scored on a layup.

A layup from sophomore Andrea Butterbrodt (Green Bay, Wis.) gave the Falcons a 34-24 lead with 6:30 left in the first half.

The Cardinals chipped away at the lead and took a late lead in the second quarter.

A layup from Gracie McNabb tied the game at 38 after a layup to once again beat the buzzer.

North Central inched away in the third quarter with a 23-10 advantage.

CUW used a 6-0 run with layups from Aubrey DeBauch, junior Ava Booth (Plymouth, Wis.) and senior Lindsey Lonigro (Deerfield, Wis.) to cut the deficit to 60-74.

A three-point basket from Gracie McNabb cut the NCC lead to 79-66 to trip the deficit to 13 with 2:07 left in the game.

Gracie McNabb led the contest with 19 points.

The Falcons open Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference (NACC) play on Wednesday against St. Norbert.
