MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia University Wisconsin women's basketball team dropped to 0-3 on the season, falling to Wheaton College, 58-36, on Tuesday evening.
The Falcons struggled offensively in the first half, unable to find a consistent rhythm. However, they closed out the second quarter on a positive note, with junior Ava Booth (Plymouth, Wis.) hitting a three-pointer assisted by sophomore Jayden Ross (Baraboo, Wis.). Despite the late spark, Concordia went into halftime trailing 25-12.
Wheaton's defense continued to stifle the Falcons throughout the second half, maintaining a comfortable lead as they entered the fourth quarter.
In the final 10 minutes of action, sophomore Andrea Butterbrodt (Green Bay, Wis.) provided a brief offensive lift, scoring back-to-back baskets, but the rally proved to be too little, too late, and Concordia was unable to overcome the deficit.
Junior Aubrey DeBauch (Gillett, Wis.) led the Falcons with 14 points, the only Concordia player in double figures. On the defensive end, senior Deidre Lassiter (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) made an impact with three blocks.
The Falcons will look to bounce back when they travel to North Central College on Saturday, November 30th to take on the Cardinals.
