Day Claims Third-Straight Javelin Title in Day One of NACC Championships

DE PERE, Wis. – CUW men's track and field opened the NACC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday at the Donald J. Schneider Stadium on the campus of St. Norbert College. The Falcons sit fourth through six events with 35 points, just four points behind Aurora. 

Once again, the Falcon's throw squad continued their successful 2023 outdoor campaign and contributed 21 points, while Concordia Wisconsin earned nine points from jumps and five from the distance events.

Senior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) defended his javelin and claimed first place for the third year in a row. Before his final attempt, Day sat in second place. In his sixth and final attempt, Seth Day recorded his best all-time throw with a distance of 50.83 meters, putting him in first place and earning the Falcons ten points. Furthermore, Day's mark ranks fourth all-time in program history. 

Fellow senior Isaac Zahrt (Kronenwetter, Wis.) also recorded a new personal record in the javelin and took third place with a throw of 46.45 meters, earning the Falcons six points. 

In the discus, sophomore Mitchell Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.) threw 43.46 meters in his second attempt and claimed fourth place, contributing five points to CUW's team score.

Senior Konnor Kingsmore (Colorado Springs, Colo.) took third place in the triple jump, leaping a distance of 13.09 meters on his second attempt. Meanwhile, senior Samuel Heling (De Pere, Wis.) took seventh place with a distance of 12.44 meters, while Isaac Zahrt contributed another point, taking eighth place in the triple jump with a mark of 12.33 meters. 

In the 10,000-meter run, junior Tim Brey took fourth and earned Concordia Wisconsin five points with a time of 32:27.29. 

The Falcons will look to add to their total and close the championships on Saturday.
