Falcons Battle in Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. – On Friday, the CUW men's track and field team hit the road to compete at the Whitewater Drake Alternative meet against teams from NCAA Divisions I, II, and III. 

The CUW throws squad continued its successful outdoor campaign. In the discus, Sophomore Mitchell Moeller (Cedarburg, Wis.) nearly broke his school record and threw 44.60 meters, taking 11th place. 

In the javelin, senior Seth Day (Sunset Hills, Mo.) took fifth place and threw 47.67 meters, while sophomore Hunter Moore (Howards Grove, Wis.), sophomore Dalton Hribar (Oconomowoc, Wis.), and senior Isaac Zahrt (Kronenwetter, Wis.) set personal records in the javelin. Moore and Zahrt also took 10th and 11th place.

Seth Day also took 11th place in the shot put and threw 12.69 meters, while Mitchell Moeller threw 43.74 meters and took 16th place.

In the 110-meter hurdles, sophomore Bernie Van Den Heuvel (Valdres, Wis.) took sixth place and ran with a time of 16.43 seconds. 

The 400-meter hurdles also saw senior Paul Witto (Charleston, Ill.) set a personal record and take 11th place after recording a time of 1:01.06.

Senior Konnor Kingsmore (Colorado Springs, Colo.) took eighth place in the long jump after leaping 5.86 meters. Kingsmore also placed fifth in the triple jump, leaping 12.92 meters. Meanwhile, senior Samuel Heling (De Pere, Wis.) took eighth place, while junior Austin Thur (Bloomer, Wis.) took ninth with distances of 11.87 meters and 11.61 meters, respectively. 

The pole vault saw sophomore Nate Waech (West Bend, Wis.) take ninth place and clear a height of 3.68 meters.  

In the 200-meter dash, senior Dane Tischendorf (Antigo, Wis.) led the flock with a time of 23.13 seconds, placing him in 15th. 

Finally, in the 1500-meter run, junior Tim Brey (Cedarburg, Wis.) continued his solid outdoor season, placing 11th with a time of 4:05.35, seconds behind his personal record. 

The CUW Falcons will compete next at the NACC Track & Field Championships, hosted by St. Norbert College, next Thursday, May 5th, and Friday, May 6th, at the Donald J. Schneider Stadium in De Pere, Wisconsin.
