Men’s Track & Field posts a strong Saturday at Whitewater

WHITEWATER, Wis. – The CUW men's track & field day had a strong performance at the Wisconsin-Whitewater Karl Schlender Invitational on Saturday. CUW finished the day with one individual champion.

Senior Samual Spranger (Fond du Lac, Wis.) was the individual champion in the 600-meter run at 1:24. 93. He was also in second place in the 200-meter dash at 23.33.

In the 3000-meter run, sophomore Jack Kral (Kohler, Wis.) finished in second place with a time of 9:52.72 and sophomore Derrick Folkman (Bonduel, Wis.) finished in fourth place at 11:03.51.

Junior Brandon Hargis (Henderson, Nev.) secured the silver medal in the shot put at 13.51 meters, following behind in third place was sophomore Gideon Cain (Cedarburg, Wis.) at 13.22 meters.

In the 400-meter dash, sophomore Christian Prohl (Downers Grove, Ill.) crossed the finish line at 53.56 to finish in third place.

The team of senior Henry Jensen (Muskego, Wis.), freshman Samuel Heling (De Pere, Wis.), freshman Zach Heckman (Sussex, Wis.) and junior Emmett Williams (Hartford, Wis.) finished the 4x400 meter relay in fifth place at 4:00.59.

Gideon Cain led CUW with a fourth-place finish in the weight throw at 13.26 meters. In sixth place was junior Zach Larsen (Germantown, Wis.) at 11.49 meters.

Freshman Reuben Richardson (Milwaukee, Wis.) had the best mark for CUW in the long jump on Saturday in seventh place at 6.23 meters.

Samuel Heling sat in fifth place in the triple jump at 11.70 meters. In sixth place was freshman Isaac Zahrt (Kronenwetter, Wis.) at 11.64 meters.

The high jump saw sophomore Austin Lopez (Ripon, Wis.) record a sixth-place mark at 1.81 meters.

Clocking in at 9.76 was Henry Jensen in fifth place in the 60-meter hurdles.

Junior Marquis Thorn (Atlanta, Ga.) led the Blue and White in the 60-meter dash in ninth place at 7.31.

The Falcons will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Ripon.
