Men’s Tennis led NACC in shortened 2019-20 season

MEQUON, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin Men's Tennis team's 2019-20 season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but the Falcons were still able to end the season as NACC-leaders due to their non-conference record.

The Falcons led the NACC with a 4-5 (.444) non-conference record. Last year's NACC champion Illinois Tech followed in second with a 3-7 (.300) record.

In their final match of the season on February 29th, the Falcons defeated future NACC-opponent St. Norbert in a 9-0 sweep. The Green Knights will be joining the NACC this fall.

The NACC Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week award was won by a Falcon in three of the five weeks. Nolan Rademacher (Monument, Colo.) earned the award twice in weeks two and four, bringing the junior's career total up to six. Tim Peters (Slinger, Wis.) earned the honor for the first time in his career in week three.

CUW finished the year with a 30-25 (.545) record in singles competition. Rademacher and Peters led the Falcons with six singles victories each. Rademacher was 2-2 at No. 1 singles and 4-1 at No. 2. Peters was 2-0 at No. 4 singles and 4-3 at No. 5.

Senior Christian Docter (Madison, Wis.) shared the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spot with Rademacher, going 5-3 with two No. 1 wins and a 3-0 sweep at No. 2.

The Falcon's doubles teams were once again strong, going 24-14 (.632) on the season. The duo of Rademacher and Logan Snyder (Franklin, Wis.) battled in the No. 1 spot, going 7-5 overall with a 3-0 tournament record and four dual wins.

Docter and Cole Werning (Watertown, Wis.) were the usual No. 2 doubles team and earned three wins at the spot.

The No. 3 doubles match almost always went to CUW as the team of Peters and senior Nathan Raskin (Shorewood, Wis.) dominated with a 7-1 record. Including the fall tournament where they played with different partners, Peters and Raskin each led the Falcons with 9-2 doubles records on the season.

Four seniors will be graduating for the Falcons: Docter, Raskin, Gabe Binversie (Plymouth, Wis.), and Thomas Melius (Slinger, Wis.).
