Men's Soccer picks up offense in rout of Edgewood

MEQUON, Wis. – They were not going to be shut out for a third straight match. The Concordia University Men's Soccer team found its offense Saturday, routing Edgewood by a score of 5-0 at Fitting Field. Iven Hernandez led the way with two goals for the Falcons.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hernandez (Antioch, Ill.) gave the Falcons a 1-0 lead in the 18th minute when he dribbled through multiple defenders for his fourth goal of the season. He would add his second goal of the match in the second half, on a brilliant strike from 13 yards out.

- Junior Colin Dibb (Hartland, Wis.) gave the Falcons a 2-0 edge before halftime, scoring his team-leading eighth goal of the year. Dibb took a pass from Justin Clayton (Crete, Ill.) and dribbled past the keeper for an easy score.

- Sophomore Dagoberto Diaz (Woodburn, Ore.) gave the Falcons a 4-0 lead in the 66th minute on his seventh goal of the season. Junior Jose Becerra (Waukegan, Ill.) added insurance in the 84th minute on his first goal in a Falcons uniform.

- CUW was dominant throughout, finishing with a 26-6 edge in shots. Freshman Nate Yeager (Rio Rancho, N.M.) made three saves in the second half for CUW, while junior Killian Mielotz (Grafton, Wis.) picked up the win by allowing no goals in the opening half.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Hernandez has come on strong as of late with five goals in the Falcons last six matches. He has two multi-goal matches in that span, the other coming in a 6-0 win over Fontbonne.

- The Falcons have shut out Edgewood five straight times. The last time Edgewood scored against the Falcons was October 19, 2011, a 3-2 CUW victory.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will look to build off today's momentum with a NACC road matchup at Rockford Wednesday. The match is set for a 4 p.m. start.
