Dibb's debut leads Falcons in season-opening win

MEQUON, Wis. – Junior transfer Colin Dibb netted a pair of goals and sophomore Dagoberto Diaz added one of his own, lifting the Concordia University Wisconsin Men's Soccer team to a 3-0 win over Lawrence University Thursday afternoon. The match was the season-opener for both teams.

THE BASICS
- Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 3, Lawrence 0
- Location: Fitting Field – Mequon, Wis.
- Records: Concordia Wisconsin 1-0, Lawrence 0-1

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons scored all three goals within the first 18 minutes of play, two from Dibb and the final one off the foot of Diaz (Woodburn, Ore.). Freshman Justin Totsky (Colgate, Wis.) set up Dibb nicely with a long pass into the offensive zone, making the score 1-0 just 8:01 into play.

- Dibb's second goal came in the 17th minute and was assisted by senior Justin Clayton (Crete, Ill.). The Falcons then scored just 42 seconds later when Dibb set up Diaz for the team's final goal of the evening.

- The Falcons dominated shots in the opening half, outshooting Lawrence 11-4 in the first 45 minutes. They finished with a 17-8 edge in shots and an 8-6 edge in shots on goal.

- Junior Killian Mielotz (Grafton, Wis.) and freshman Nate Yeager (Rio Rancho, N.M.) split action between the pipes for the Falcons. Mielotz played the first half and made three saves, picking up the win, while Yeager stopped two shots in the second half.

DIBB INTERVIEW

- Dibb (Hartland, Wis.) joined CUWFalcons.com afterwards to talk about his successful first match in a Falcons uniform.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- The Falcons picked up a win in the season opener for a second straight season, last year's resulting in the same 3-0 score. Last season, CUW went on the road and swept Carroll in the season opener, also on September 1.

- Dibb was one of several impact new players for the Falcons on Thursday. CUW had four first-year Falcons start and several more who saw action in the 3-0 win.

UP NEXT
- The Falcons will visit Lake Forest on Sunday for another non-conference matchup. Action is set to get underway at 1 p.m. and will be the first part of a Men's-Women's doubleheader in Lake Forest.
