Men's Soccer tops UW-Platteville in battle of unbeatens

MEQUON, Wis. - Mother Nature forced the postponement of a match Wednesday but provided great playing conditions for the first of a two match weekend for the Concordia University Men's Soccer team Saturday. The Falcons took advantage with a 2-1 victory over previous unbeaten UW-Platteville.

THE BASICS
Final Score: Concordia Wisconsin 2, UW-Platteville 1
Location: Fitting Field – Mequon, Wis.
Records: Concordia Wisconsin 3-0-0, UW-Platteville 3-1-0

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons got on the board first just 2:29 into the second half thanks to a great cross from Luis Loya to Colin Dibb, who converted for his fifth goal of the season. Dibb (Hartland, Wis.) slid it right past goaltender Nate Miller for his fifth goal in three matches.

- Loya (Bolingbrook, Ill.) was at it again in the 70th minute when he pounced on a deflected ball in the box to score his second goal this season.

- Platteville answered back in the 75th minute when Logan Rinderknecht broke loose for his fifth goal of 2016.

- CUW withstood a late charge with solid defensive play and a save by Nate Yeager (Rio Rancho, N.M.) in the 82nd minute to preserve the win.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
-Killian Mielotz (Grafton, Wis.) who began the match in goal, finished with three first half saves.

- Dibb now finds himself in a tie with Edgewood's Garrett Lee atop the NACC goals scored list with five.

-CUW is 3-0 for the first time since 2004 when the team opened the season 6-0 en route to a 15-4 season and a Lake Michigan Conference regular season title.
