
Men's Lacrosse Overwhelms Edgewood
VERONA, Wis. – The Concordia Wisconsin men's lacrosse team passed its first NACC road test in flying colors on Wednesday. The Falcons improved to 6-3 on the year and remained unbeaten in the NACC at 2-0 with a 21-5 victory on Wednesday evening.
The Falcons started the scoring two minutes into the contest with a goal from junior Caleb Ruger (Cedarburg, Wis.) off an assist from freshman Preston Meier (Owatonna, Minn.).
Two minutes later, sophomore Max Esposito (Gaithersburg, Md.) found the back of the net off an assist from sophomore Chase Drexler (Vernon Hills, Ill.).
At the 10:21 mark, Edgewood found its lone goal of the quarter.
Max Esposito struck again with 6:40 left in the frame.
It only took 20 seconds for sophomore Gio Nowotarski (Reading, Pa._ to start the scoring in the second quarter.
After an Edgewood goal, the Falcons closed the second quarter scoring with a pair of goals from Caleb Ruger and goals from sophomore Pat Ryan (Western Springs, Ill.) and Gio Nowotarski.
The Falcons feasted on the Eagles in the third quarter with an 11-0 scoring margin. Freshman Jason Michalski (Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich.), senior Jack Gromosky (Danville, Ind.), Gio Nowotarski and Pat Ryan all scored two goals in the third quarter.
Freshman Alex Busateri (Oak Creek, Wis.) scored his first collegiate goal in the opening minute off a pass from freshman Frank Trewyn (Mukwonago, Wis.).
He then closed the scoring off with an assist from sophomore Michael Lange (Brookfield, Wis.).
The Falcons held a 67-25 advantage in shots in the victory. Gio Nowotarski led the flock with 10 shots.
Senior Evan Leden (Waukegan, Ill.) posted 12 saves in the victory.
The blue birds won 21 of the 29 faceoffs on Wednesday. Noah Brandt won 11 and Frank Trewyn took home 10 victories.
The Blue and White gobbled up 59 ground balls. Senior Jason Borchert (Cottage Grove, Wis.) and Frank Trewyn had seven each.
Max Esposito led all scorers with three goals and six assists.
The Falcons forced 14 turnovers against the Eagles, with Jason Borchert forcing five.
