Men’s Lacrosse Participates in St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser
MEQUON, Wis. – The CUW men's lacrosse team gave back to the community with a St. Baldrick's fundraiser.
Since 2000, the St. Baldrick's Foundation has been raising money for childhood cancer research.
This year, the Falcons decided to take part in the fundraising as a team. The fundraising comes from head-shaving events where participants get their heads shaved to raise money for the foundation.
With 10 participants walking into the site in Cedarburg, Wisconsin, the men's lacrosse team walked out with 20 members having participated in the event. The Falcons raised $3,500 as a team.
When asked about the importance of this event, sophomores Zach Wilder (Midland, Mich.) and Griffin Bahr (Grand Rapids, Mich.) had this to say:
"It's important to us because cancer in some form has affected everyone's family and it is great to be able to raise money to help out young kids affected by cancer and bring together our team for a great cause. We can't wait to participate next year and hopefully raise some more donations and get an even bigger turnout of shaved heads to show awareness."
Head coach Mike Fahey was proud of his team's commitment and is excited for years to come, "I am super proud of our team putting together this fundraiser and rallying behind the St. Baldrick's foundation. It was such a great event for them to participate in and support the community and childhood cancer. We look forward to participating next year and hopefully we will have even more members joining the event."
