Men’s Lacrosse Closes 2021 with a Win at Illinois Tech

CHICAGO – The CUW men's lacrosse team ended the 2021 season on a high note on Saturday afternoon. The Falcons edged Illinois Tech with an 11-10 victory to finishes the season at 5-7 and 3-3 in the NACC.

The Falcons jumped out to an early lead on Saturday.

Just over two minutes into the game, senior Donovan Harper (Yorba Linda, Calif.) found the back of the net.

Sophomore Jack Gromosky (Danville, Ind.) fed senior Ryan LeFebvre (Chicago, Ill.) a pass that scored the second goal of the day.

Donovan Harper put the Falcons up 3-1 after the first quarter off an assist from Jack Gromosky.

The Scarlet Hawks soared into the lead with four goals to open the second quarter.

Senior Taitum Priewe (Janesville, Wis.) ended the skid with a goal with 2:52 remaining in the half.

Senior Keijo Day (Esko, Minn.) drew first blood in the third quarter to tie the game.

Following two Illinois Tech goals, Jack Gromosky and Donovan Harper both recorded a goal to tie the game at seven heading into the final 15 minutes.

The Falcons came out of the gates blazing in the fourth quarter and recorded goals from Taitum Priewe, Chris Smith and Donovan Harper.

Sophomore Matthew Sierzega (Grayslake, Ill.) scored the winning goal with 6:13 left on the clock.

Donovan Harper led the flock with 11 shots on Saturday.

Senior Alex Loding (Mundelein, Ill.) closed his senior year with another phenomenal performance in the net with 12 saves in the victory. Loding finishes the year with a 636 save percentage, the highest in the NACC. He also had a game-high seven ground balls.

The CUW senior class finishes with 37 victories, an MLC Regular Season title, an MLC Tournament title and a trip to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
