Firebirds fly past the Falcons

MEQUON, Wis. – It was a dreary day for the Falcon lacrosse team as they competed against Carthage College at Fitting Field, losing to the Firebirds 19-6.

Carthage came into the game hot with their first goal scored in the second minute of the first quarter.

The Falcons wouldn't see their first goal until less than two minutes left in the first quarter when senior Keijo Day (Esko, Minn.) scored an unassisted goal.

Before the end of the first quarter, senior Connor Peterson (Waukegan, Ill.) would put the second goal away. The Blue and White would trail 7-2 by the end of the first 15 minutes.

The Firebirds would attack the Falcons heavily in the second quarter, scoring five goals. In the last second of the second quarter, Day would score an unassisted goal. The Falcons would trail 12-3 going into halftime.

In the third quarter, senior Taitum Priewe (Janesville, Wis.) would score the fourth goal for the Falcons.

The fourth quarter would see two more goals by Day, both assisted by senior Ryan LeFebvre (Chicago, Ill.).

Day would tally eight shots for the Falcons, and Priewe would fall closely behind with six shots.

Sophomore goalie Adam Nichols (Naperville, Ill.) would see 38 shots throughout the 60 minutes of play, and save 19 of them.

The Blue and White tallied 29 ground balls, caused 32 turnovers, had 21 shots, and won nine of 28 face offs in their match up against Carthage.

The Falcons look to obtain a victory over North Central on Sunday, Mar. 21, at 10 AM on Fitting Field.
