HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Falcons struck three times in a 2:01 stretch in the opening period to take a 3-0 lead. The first goal came 13:28 into the game, off the stick of Taylor Gauld (Whitby, Ontario). Gauld, who added a power play goal in the third period, scored the opening goal off assists by Nick Guerra (Victoria, British Columbia) and Nick Guiney (Victoria, British Columbia).

- Just 1:10 later, the Falcons went up 2-0 on a score from Braydon Barker (Red Deer, Alberta). Guiney picked up his second assist of the night on the Barker score.

- Less than a minute later the Falcons were at it again with a third score. Josh Adkins (Victoria, British Columbia) rounded out the scoring surge off an assist from Matt Valure (Hermantown, Minn.).

- The Falcons added two goals in the final 1:30 to pull away from the Spartans and complete the five-goal win. Gauld scored his second of the game with 1:27 left with Guerra and Guiney again tallying assists. Valure then completed the scoring, his score aided by Brody Decker (Dousman, Wis.) and Adkins.

- Malvin (Ham Lake, Minn.) registered his second career shutout, his other one coming nearly one year to the date. Malvin shut out No. 1 St. Norbert on January 28 of last season. On Friday, the junior stopped 27 shots, including 10 in the opening period and 12 in the third.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Malvin recorded his ninth win of the season, tying him with Jack Romanuik for the most in Falcons single-season history. Romanuik set the single-season wins record last year.

- Malvin and Romanuik are also the only two players to record two career shutouts for the Falcons.
