MALVIN POSTGAME

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first period, Connor Hogg (London, Ontario) got the Falcons on the board 12:42 into the second with his fourth goal of the season. The score came shortly after a delayed penalty, allowing Malvin to skate to the bench in favor of an extra attacker. The Falcons scored two seconds later with Eric Therrien (Willow Bunch, Saskatchewan) assisting on the goal.

- Just 4:14 later, CUW went up 2-0 on a goal by Matt Valure (Hermantown, Minn.). Brody Decker (Dousman, Wis.) and Casey Esselman (Wisconsin Rapids, Wis.) assisted on the Valure goal.

- Trine cut the Falcons lead in half early in the third period when Ryan Murray deflected a shot past Malvin, making the score 2-1. The Falcons would answer midway through the final stanza as Jon Brumwell (Calgary, Alberta) scored an unassisted goal to put his team back up two goals.

- Malvin (Ham Lake, Minn.) had another strong game for the Falcons, making 30 saves for his eighth win of the season. He made 13 of those stops in the opening period and added 12 in the final stanza. His counterpart, Brett Young, totaled 31 stops.

- The Falcons penalty kill had another strong showing, killing off all three Trine power play opportunities. CUW finished the game 0-for-4 with the extra attacker.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- Malvin now has eight wins this season, which ranks second most in program history. Jack Romanuik won nine games last year for CUW.

- Friday marked the second time this season Malvin has recorded 30 or more saves in a game. He had a season-best 31 in a 3-1 win over Northland on November 11.
