Malvin named NCHA Defensive Player of the Week

WAUKESHA, Wis. – Junior goaltender Nick Malvin has been named the Northern Collegiate Hockey Association Men's Defensive Player of the Week for the events of November 6-12, the league office announced Tuesday.

Malvin (Ham Lake, Minn.) stopped 60 shots while allowing just two goals, in a 2-0 weekend for the Falcons. On Friday, the junior made 29 saves and then topped that performance with 31 saves Saturday, totaling 60 for the week. The only two goals allowed by Malvin – one in each game – were power play scores.

Malvin finished the week with a .968 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average. The two wins improved his season record to 4-1.

St. Norbert's Peter Bates was named the NCHA Offensive Player of the Week after netting a pair of game-winners, including an overtime winner against St. Norbert. The NCHA Weekly Release can be found here.

Malvin and the Falcons are off this weekend and will next play Thanksgiving Weekend, November 24 and 25. The Falcons will host Bethel Friday night at 7 p.m. before welcoming St. John's Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m.
