Men's Golf Competed in Day One of Midwest Region Classic
KANSASVILLE, Wis. - The CUW men's golf team traveled across the border to take part in the Midwest Region Classic on Sunday.
The Blue and White finished with a total of 344 strokes which landed them in 25th place. North Park is leading after day one with a total of 289 strokes.
Freshman Cole Shane (Park Ridge, Ill.) led the flock with a total of 78 strokes on day one. Shane was three-over par on both nines to end up at six over. He sank three birdies.
Sophomores Nico Murgas-Bennett (Hartford, Wis.) and Tyler Yaun (Rockton, Ill.) Claimed second place for the Falcon squad with 87-stroke performances. Murgas-Bennett sank one birdie.
In fourth place for the Falcons was freshman Francisco Ascenio Beltra (Ibi, Spain). Ascenio Beltra was 20 over par for a total of 92 strokes on day one. He had one birdie.
Rounding out the Falcon squad was sophomore Joshua Samsell (Bay City, Mich.). Samsell finished with 102 total strokes including a birdie on the last hole.
The Blue and White continue their weekend on Monday in Kansasville for day two of the Midwest Region Classic.
