SEASON PREVIEW: Men's Golf looks for Improvement

MEQUON, Wis. -- Concordia University Wisconsin will look to climb the Northern Athletics Conference standings ladder when the Falcons begin practice in two weeks.

Seniors Nick Falkowski (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Eric Hertel (Franklin, Wis.) will be returning for their fourth season with CUW Golf. "Their experience and leadership should prove to be invaluable," said head coach Ray Engelking.

Hertel played a team-high 18 rounds for CUW with an 89.7 average.

"I am looking forward to the new faces on the team that will hopefully lead us to a winning season. The new players this season are freshmen Chris PayneCameron Herdt (Oconomowoc, Wis.), Mike LoftusJason Meyer, Elijah Glasenhapp and Adam Kosberg (Phoenix, Ariz.).

"These guys are experienced golfers with competitive handicaps," offered Engelking.

Other possibilities for roster spots include Gralyn Douglas, Kevin KoerberDan Shilts, and Tanner Tryggestad (pending the resolution of possible conflicts).

Engelking sees Edgewood College, Benedictine University and MSOE as the NAC favorites going into the season. CUW finished ninth out of the 10 competing conference teams in each of the past two fall campaigns.

"Depending on how our top five golfers begin play (and whether they fulfill their potential) will go a long way in determining how CUW will fair this fall," Engelking rationalized.
