Men's Basketball cruises past Concordia Chicago at CIT

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – All five starters scored in double-figures on Saturday afternoon and Concordia University Wisconsin earned a commanding 95-71 victory over Concordia University Chicago. The Falcons shot 51.9 percent in the Concordia Invitational Tournament win.

CUW began to take over in the first half after putting together a quick 10-0 scoring run during a two minute and 35 second stretch to go ahead 33-20. The Cougars would get within five points before halftime, but it didn't matter as the Falcons seemingly couldn't do anything wrong in the second half.

The Falcons were efficient on offense with just seven turnovers and were, at times, dominate on the defensive end of the court with six rejections. The lead quickly reached 20 points just minutes into the second half and they ended the game with a season-best 60 points in the paint. They also scored 17 points off 13 CUC errors.

Junior Brett Boettcher (New Holstein, Wis.) recorded his fifth career double-double with 16 points and 11 rebounds, to go along with three assists and a block. Boettcher was named to the CIT All-Tournament team for his efforts. Junior Malcolm Bowers (Germantown, Wis.) tallied 16 points on 8-of-12 shooting, while junior Bradley Prinsen (Oostburg, Wis.) scored 13 points and stole three passes.

Sophomore Eric Kittel (Brillion, Wis.) added 12 points, all in the first half, including three 3-pointers. Junior Keith Kahlfeldt (New Berlin, Wis.) finished with 11 points, six rebounds and four assists. Junior Trevor Krizenesky (Brillion, Wis.) led the Falcons reserves with eight points, including a pair of long balls.

Kylan Anderson had 13 points for the Cougars (6-15), while Adam Giger scored 11 points and grabbed five rebounds. Brandon Stinson ended eight points, seven rebounds and six assists, but had four turnovers.

The game didn't count for the Northern Athletics Collegiate Conference standings because the two teams had already played their scheduled league games against each other earlier this month.

CUW returns to action on Wednesday against Edgewood College at 7 pm inside the R. John Buuck Field House.
