Men's Basketball hosts Special Olympians

MEQUON, Wis. – Concordia University Wisconsin, Mel's Pig Roast and Ozaukee County Special Olympics have partnered several years to support each other. On Saturday, the Falcons hosted the Special Olympians for an intra-squad game and social following their contest at 4:15 p.m.

"It was another fantastic day with Concordia University Wisconsin!" Mel Stanton from Mels' Pig Roast said of the event. "Smiles were all around with a big win for the Falcons and our friends from Ozaukee County Special Olympics, as they enjoyed time playing and with team."

CUW defeated Rockford University, 79-74, in front a boisterous and supportive crowd inside the R. John Buuck Field House. Following the victory, the Special Olympians played a game and enjoyed a pizza social afterwards.

"We have a great relationship with Mel Stanton and it's an on-going effort to support the Mel's Pig Roast and what it supports," CUW head coach Shawn Cassidy said. "It's rewarding to be involved in the community and for our student-athletes to get to know someone like Mel, who has such an important impact on the community."
