From last Friday

It was a good-ol' fashion high-scoring slugfest last Friday night between a pair of Northern Athletics Conference rivals, but Edgewood College sank six of its last eight free throws to claim a 95-89 victory over host-Concordia University Wisconsin in the semifinals of the NAC Tournament. CUW (23-4) still earned a high seed and will host the first round of the NCAA Regional Tournament.

Edgewood pushed its lead to as many as 10 points in the second half, before CUW clawed its way back into the game on several occasions thanks to Skip Newton-Kemp's 27 points - 17 in the second period - on 10-of-17 shooting, seven rebounds, and three steals. Matt Paluchniak finished with 16 points and six assists, while Luke Doedens tallied 13 points and seven rebounds. Cory Stark and Zach Neumann each scored 10 points.

Kent Faurote recorded the games only double-double, recording 27 points and 10 rebounds, and Ben Wisniewski scored 26 points, including four 3-pointers for the Eagles.

CUW scored the game's opening four points, before Edgewood responded with a 13-5 run to claim a 13-9 lead with 15:15 remaining in the opening period. Both teams traded baskets for the conclusion of the half with the Eagles taking a 40-37 lead into the intermission.

The second half was nearly identical to the opening 20 minutes with field goals being traded on almost every possession. CUW cut its deficit to a point on four instances over the middle portion of the second half, but it couldn't find its stroke from long range to take control of the contest. The Falcons shot 51.7 percent (30-of-58) from the field and 88 percent (22-of-25) from the charity stripe.
