Falcon men defeat LaVerne 66-59

LaVerne, CA

"We came out with intensity again tonight but our improved execution was the key," said Coach Shawn Cassidy after his Falcons (9-2) dismantled LaVerne University 66-59 to complete their California road trip.

Like a day earlier, CUW pulled out to a halftime lead but this time the second half whistles tilted in Concordia's favor as the Falcons went 14-18 from the charity stripe compared to La Verne's 4-4 performance.

Balanced scoring was a key for CUW as four players finished with double figure efforts. Mitchell Schneider (19) led the way but Cory Stark's 18 point and 12 rebound performance was the key factor. "We were completely unselfish tonight on both ends of the court," surmised Cassidy.

LaVerne cut what had been a 9 point lead down to 2 (59-57) with 1:57 remaining but Stark's subsequent 3 point play gave Concordia some breathing room and the Falcons added 4 free throws down the stretch.
